High Level of Confidence

HRSS should always attempt to obtain Right to Work (RTW) documentation at a High Level of Confidence; the standard DPEC templates have been set up to request RTW via photo ID verification at a High Level of Confidence.

Statisfying RTW at a High Level of Confidence requires a Valid UK / Irish Passport with the biometic chip scanned.

Passports should be valid. Check the passport has not expired.

Medium Level of Confidence

If a candidate is having difficulty scaning the biometric chip in their UK / Irish passport they should try all troubleshooting actions first. There is also a full online tutorial to ensure all steps are being followed.

Should they still be unable to scan the biometic chip they can still achieve a Medium Level of Confidence for RTW.  A new DPEC request will need to be sent to the candidate with the following options ticked:

  • Photo ID verification
  • Verifiy a document photo
  • Restrict ‘Accept all document types’ to Passport only
  • Facial similarity and liveness
  • Right to work/rent in the UK

Passports should be valid. Check the passport has not expired.

Home Office Share Code Check or Offline Check

If a candidate is unable to provide a valid UK / Irish passport they will be unable to satisfy High or Medium Level of Confidence for RTW via DPEC. This means they will either have a Home Office share code to verify online or require an offline RTW check.

The Home Office share code is used to generate the Home Office online output which evidences Right to Work (RTW). HRSS must also conduct a share code appointment via Teams video call to verify the photograph on the Home Office online right to work check is a true likeness of the individual to confirm RTW.
