An Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) transfers information that has been entered on the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) by a candidate's previous NHS organisation. It enables HR Shared Services (HRSS) to confirm any previous service for a candidate.

An IAT is ran once a candidate starts in their position. HRSS will issue a letter to the candidate along with a calculator to show what previous service has been confirmed.
