A Recruiting Manager (RM) may request that a vacancy is re-advertised if they were not able to recruit to the full number of posts available initially or where the vacancy closes without any applications. The RM may also request that we extend an advert closing date after the vacancy has closed.
Should the RM make a request for a vacancy to be re-advertised, the request can only be completed if the following conditions are met:
- The role specifics have not changed.
- No applications have been received.
- All candidates have been moved to reject.
- We are asked to accept a late application.
Please note: Vacancies advertised in the old NHS Jobs 2 services cannot be readvertised in NHS Jobs 3.
If all of the above criteria is met, please email the HR Shared Services (HRSS) Query team with your request.
Should HRSS receive a request to re-advertise a vacancy that is within the Outcome stage in Trac, this is not possible, and a new Trac vacancy request should be raised by the RM.
Changing role specifics
For HRSS to re-advertise the post, the role specifics for example, the Job Title, Band, Position number can’t be changed. If the role specifics need to change, a new vacancy request must be created and sent for authorisation.
A RM can, however, request changes to the advert (text, scope) to make the advert more desirable to candidates.
Changing shortlisting criteria
Only minor amendments can be made to shortlisting criteria, such as spelling or grammar. These should be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If significant changes are required to the shortlisting criteria, then a new vacancy request must be created and sent for authorisation.
