The Digital Pre-employment Checks Guide states the below;

Financial statements that can be accepted as proof of identity (ID) are bank, building society, credit card, credit union, pension or endowment statements (UK) that are dated within the last six months (financial statements used for a DBS must be dated within three months).

Online documents

Online documents can be accepted if each of the following conditions are met:

  • The candidate’s current address provided in the DPEC Identity Report matches:
    • their Trac application (contact details and personal details sections)
    • the identity documents provided

(Any discrepancies must be queried with the candidate to understand before proceeding.)

  • The identity report status is ‘Accepted’ or ‘Possible Match’ - (Any ‘outcomes to review’ must be checked and verified.)

  • At least one share record is verified

  • The postcode is validated within the report

  • A visual authenticity check of the online document has been completed

  • Photo ID verification has been successfully completed - (passport, driving licence, or national ID card will be provided)

Statements printed in branch

If your bank or building society has printed a statement for you in branch, this can be accepted as proof of ID for pre-employment checks as long as it is dated within the last six months (three months for DBS). Statements printed in branch should be stamped and dated by the bank, however if the printed statement clearly states it has been 'printed in branch' the bank stamp and date is not required.
