In order to complete a Right to Work (RTW) check through an Identification Document Validation Technology (IDVT), e.g., the Digital Pre-employment Checking (DPEC) sytem, only the following specified documents are accepted:
- In Date Valid British Passports
- In Date Valid Irish Passports
- In Date Valid Irish Passport Cards
However, an expired passport can be accepted as RTW provided the candidate is a British or Irish citizen, or a citizen of a Crown Dependency (Jersey, Guernsey, or the Isle of Man).
In order to comply with the UK Government's Right to Work guidance, an expired British/Irish Passport or expired Irish passport card must be seen in person via an offline check.
