The Recruiting Manager (RM) should always be the person to arrange this with the candidate as they can speak to them directly and discuss any notice, or annual leave, which should be taken into account.

The RM should also bear in mind the payroll cut-off dates when arranging a start date as this may affect when the candidate receives their first salary payment.

Once the RM has agreed a start date with the candidate they should confirm the date in writing via email, along with the other first day reporting (FDR) information requested. HR Shared Services (HRSS) will then be able to draft the Contract of employment or Addendum letter and issue this to the candidate. If the RM does not provide all the requested information, the contact will be sent only detailing the start date. All other information will state “as agreed with Line Manager.
